How to start a timer by movement in a video clip?
I want to be able to time a greyhound race accurately. For this I need a timer to start as soon as the traps open. It would be a similar principle to web-cam software that starts recording if there's movement detected on in the web-cam. There would be other movement in the background (hare, people etc) so I would need to be able to select the area to watch for movement. Is there any video software out there that makes this possible?
I want this to be done automatically so that I know the timer starts at the same point at each race. I watch 50+ races a day so I need an automated solution
I think all video software makes that possible. Simply video tape the race, download it to almost any movie program, and that program will have a "timeline" and slow motion, so you can see the exact amount time that has elapsed in the video. use subtraction and addition to determine when the race started and ended.
